According to the study “The increase of price policies based on mortgage risk in Italy”, carried out by Silvia Magri and Raffaella Pico of the Bank of Italy, 5% of the Italian families in 2007 could not afford their mortgage payments. It is the highest value in Europe together with Spain. The study was based on the data of the Eu-Silc survey (Community Statistics on Income and Living Conditions) gathered bu Eurostat in 2007.
