A Confcommercio-Format survey on the expectations of the Italians in 2011, reveals that just less than seven out of ten Italians believe that the situation in the country will be equal to or better than in the past year. There also an increase in the proportion of optimists (mostly men, young, living in the north) and a decrease in the pessimists (mostly women, young and old, residents of the South). And among the fears of the Italians for the year just begun, the usual “fears” of all time – in particular the uncertainty toward the future (53.3% of families), health (41.9%), the difficulties facing their own economic needs (32.6%) – those that today, because of the crisis, often have to do with the economic serenity of many families, particularly in Southern Italy.
