On the basis of information available, the number of employees in December 2010 (seasonally adjusted) is unchanged compared either to November 2010 and on an annual basis. The employment rate of 57% was unchanged compared to November and in decrease by 0.1 percentage points over the same period last year. The number of people seeking employment is down by 0.5% compared to November and up by 2.5% compared to December 2009. The unemployment rate, that was 8.6%, remains unchanged compared to November. Compared to December 2009 the registered unemployment rate increased by 0.2 percentage points. The youth unemployment rate is 29%, showing an increase by 0.1 percentage points over the previous month and by 2.4 percentage points compared to December 2009. The number of inactive aged between 15 and 64 years in December 2010 increased by 0.1% compared to both November and December 2009. The inactivity rate, 37.6%, is unchanged from the previous month and in decrease compared to December 2009 (-0.1 percentage points).
