The main results of the Credit Monitoring for firms in the trade, tourism and services in the fourth quarter of 2010, carried out by Confcommercio-Imprese per l’Italia in collaboration with Format Ricerche di Mercato, show that as happened in the third quarter also in the last quarter of the year just ended, almost one firm out of two (48.9%) signals difficulties or is not able to cope with its financial needs. If from the demand for credit it is possible to catch some sign of vitality, with almost 26% of the firms turning to the bank system for funding (3% more than the preceding quarter), nearly one quarter of the firms – the highest figure for two years now – received an amount less than required or even the request of the funding was rejected. Finally, the perception by the firms of the costs of the credit offers by the banks has sharply worsened: in fact there was an increase in the cost of finance and other conditions as well as in the banking services.
