Italy remains in the bottom of the OECD classification of wages, but climbs up from 23rd to 22nd place beyond Greece. This data are shown in the report ‘Taxing wages’ issued by the Paris-based. The average net salary of a single without dependent children in Italy was $ 25,155 in 2010. The figure is lower than both the OECD average ($ 26,436), and the EU-15 ($ 30,089). The gross salary was $ 35,847, slightly above the OECD average ($ 35 576) but lower than the European Union ($ 42,755). In this ranking, Italy is in 19th place.
