Boom for old-age pensions in 2010: during the year – as stated in the Annual Report of the Institute – 174,729 treatments were cleared compared with 100,880 registered in 2009 (+73%). The new old-age pensions were mainly paid to employees (110,844 compared to 56,963 in the whole 2009) while autonomous workers have registered 63,885 pensions. 91% of INPS pensions paid to women is less than € 1,000 but for six out of 10 checks the amount is less than 500 €. Only 36% of the pensions paid to men is under 500 €, while 20.2% is higher than € 1500 (compared to just 2.6% of the checks with a female owner). For young people more and more important, if not indispensable, the supplementary pension. (ANSA)
