According to Istat, in June 2011 the index of consumer confidence dropped to 105.8 from 106.5 in May. The decline is due to the deterioration of personal opinions on the personal and current outlook with the indicators that go down, respectively, from 121.5 to 120.1 and from 117.3 to 116.0. Rise, however, the indices for the economic outlook (from 77.8 to 78.5) and future climate (from 93.1 to 93.7). Improve, in particular, predictions about the country’s economic situation and expectations on the evolution of the labor market, as well as judgments on the balance sheet of the family and the short-term expectations on the family situation. On the contrary, assessments of present and future cost savings and judgments on the purchase of durable goods become more negative. The intentions of purchasing durable goods marked a significant recovery. Judgments about the dynamics of consumer prices remain stable while the predictions about future inflation registered a decline from the previous month. Confidence worsens, albeit with different intensities, in all areas of the Centre-North, while improving in the South.
