According to data released by ISTAT, in 2010 the average monthly expenditure per family is equal, in current values, to 2,453 euro, an increase of +0.5% over the previous year. Taking into account sampling error (0.6%) and changes in the value of imputed rent (+0.2%), spending is stable in real terms despite inflation (+1.5%). The average monthly expenditure per household amounted to 2,040 euro (+1.0% compared to 2009) and confirms the stability observed in terms of average value. The average expenditure in the current values for food and drink does not show significant changes compared to 2009 (+1.2%) and amounted to 467 euro per month. In particular, spending on meat increases, while decrease continues for oils and fats. The share of expenditure on food and drink remains constant for the families of North and Center (16.5% in the North and 18.6% in the Center), while increases in the South, coming to represent one quarter of total spending. The non-food spending, as well as the food, is stable and equal to 1,987 euro per month. The expenditure for fuel and energy and that for other goods and services are lower than in 2009(characterized by a particularly harsh winter). Continue to increase the weight of housing over the average monthly expenditure, as well as increases the burden of health and education. Lombardy is the region with the highest average spending per month (2,896 euro), followed by Emilia-Romagna (2,885) and Piedmont (2,876). Tail, once again, Sicily with an average monthly expenditure (1,668) of more than 1,000 euro lower than that of the regions with the highest expenditure.
