According to Istat, the industry turnover decreased in May, seasonally adjusted, by 1.7% from the previous month, down by 2.9% on the domestic market and increasing by 0.9% on the foreign one. In the average of the last three months (from March to May), the index increased by 3.8% over the previous three months (December-February). Adjusted for calendar effects (working days were 22 against 21 in May 2010) the turnover grew by 10.8% in trend terms. The sectors of economic activity for which there are, compared to May 2010, the largest increases of the total turnover are manufacturing of chemical products (+38.3%) and mining (+18.0%). As for orders, the largest trend increases are observed for the manufacture of machinery and equipment nec (+48.5%) and manufacturing of chemical products (+42.5%).
