According to Istat, in the second quarter 2011 the seasonally adjusted index of gross wages per equivalent unit of full-timework (FTE), net of layoffs (CIG), records for industry and services as a whole, a 0.8% increase over the previous quarter. The change from the second quarter of 2010, measured on the raw index, stood at +2.8%. The seasonally adjusted index of social security contributions increased by 1% over the previous quarter. The raw index rose by 3.2% over the same quarter last year. The index of the labor cost marks an increase of 0.9% in conjuncture terms and 2.9% in trend terms. In comparison with the same quarter last year, the salary increase is 3.9% in the industrial sector, and 1.9% in services. The most marked trend growth of wages within the industry is recorded in the supply of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning (+7.1%), due to, among other things, the delivery of consistent incentives to exodus in some big companies. In services, the biggest increase is found in the field of insurance and financial activities (+3.6%), due to the payment of premiums normally paid in the first quarter.
