On 21 June 2011, at the Chamber of Deputies in Montecitorio, the President of the Antitrust Antonio Catricalà presented the annual report to Parliament, in which he reported the disappearance of the system of liberalization and reforms from the political agenda with the consequent risk of definitive stalemate of the economic system already in serious crisis. The Authority has also denounced multiple situations in which special interests of certain sectors have caused a closure of the markets. Catricalà identified railways, motorway and airport management, banking and insurance governance as the "sectors in which the introduction of truly competitive market structures that can facilitate the recovery of growth is most necessary".
