Istat asked a sample of 45 persons resident in Italy to give a score from 000 to 0 for a list of 10 conditions that correspond to as many dimensions of wellness. In the citizens' opinion, the issues identified are all important and contribute nearly equally to the welfare of the country. The opinions have been expressed by respondents evenly with very few differences in gender, age, educational level and region.
Each dimension has received high scores: the average value varies between 9.7 (being in good health) and 7.1 (taking part in the community life). Being healthy is the most important condition for individual well-being. 79.9% of people aged 14 and over gives this dimension score of 10. Secondly the possibility of securing a future for children (average: 9.3, 66.1% of 10). Also important is the concern about the environmental conditions (average: 8.9). In the third and fourth place are situated two co-related dimensions: to have a decent job (9.2) and to have an adequate income (9.1) with respectively 59.5% and 56% of 10.
